• Alocasia Low Riders need bright, indirect light since the plant’s natural habitat is the forest floor beneath the trees. Direct sun may cause the leaves to burn, so avoid placing your Alocasia in a spot where it’ll be exposed to the direct sunlight for an extended period.
• The Alocasia plant is also not tolerant of low-light conditions and grows best in humid environments. Avoid placing your Alocasia near an A/C or a heater.
• Keep the soil on the drier side, but make sure there is high humidity so your plant can prosper. For the Alocasia Low Rider’s optimal comfort, it is recommended frequent misting.
• These plants thrive in a humid environment and humidity can also help combat some of the Alocasia’s most common pest, spider mites. Placing a pebble tray under the pot is an excellent way to increase the humidity along with frequent misting. When misting, try not to leave sitting water on their leaves. Sitting water can damage the leaves and weigh the stems down.
• When watering, allow the soil to dry to ensure the plant isn’t sitting in wet soil. During winter, Alocasia Low Rider will go through a dormancy period and will require less frequent watering.
• If their soil doesn’t have proper drainage, Alocasias are susceptible to root rot and fungal infections. Always pot these plants in a pot with a drainage hole.
